Imphal: Manipur Police arrested two members of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (P) during an operation in the Imphal West district on Wednesday. Security forces took the men into custody at Lamdeng and recovered an InSAS light machine gun, three magazines, and 14 live rounds of ammunition.

The suspects were identified as 29-year-old Arambam Tomtom from Heibongpokpi Mayai Leikai and Heisnam Thomas from Mayang Imphal Kokchai. These arrests follow a separate security mission conducted on Tuesday in the Imphal East district.

In that operation, forces apprehended Laishram Surjit Meitei, a recruiter for the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (VC). The arrest occurred in the Mantripukhri area near the Heingang Police Station. Authorities seized a mobile phone from the suspect, who is a resident of the Bishnupur district. These actions are part of a broader, ongoing effort by state security forces to reduce militant activity across Manipur.
