Manipur Security Forces Arrest Six in Major Anti-Narcotics Crackdown

Imphal: Manipur police and security forces have arrested six individuals across the state following a string of successful anti-narcotics operations. These efforts targeted illegal drug trafficking in the Churachandpur and Senapati districts over the first week of June 2026.

On June 5, police intercepted two suspects, Paominthang Haokip and Isla Uddin, at a vehicle checkpoint near Vajing village. Officers recovered 1.423 kg of suspected brown sugar during the stop. Two days later, authorities arrested K. Pauchinsuan and Tuahmawi at the Singngat police station check post. In that incident, police seized a vehicle and over 5 kg of soap cases containing suspected narcotics. Officials noted that the actual drug content in that seizure was approximately 1.4 kg.

Security forces conducted a separate operation on June 7 at the T. Khullen naka post in Senapati district. They arrested Man Bahadur Bhattarai and his co-driver, Ajay Baniya, while seizing 28.190 kg of suspected opium. The authorities also confiscated a pickup truck and 5,000 rupees in cash from the pair. A police spokesperson confirmed that “further investigation into the cases is underway” as officials continue to process the recovered evidence.
