Imphal: Manipur security forces arrested four militants, including two minors, during a series of busts across the state. Officers recovered illegal firearms, nearly 80 rounds of ammunition, and a suspected improvised explosive device during the raids. They are now working to piece together the suspects' broader network.
Police nabbed Moirangthem Naoba Meitei, a 32-year-old United National Liberation Front cadre, in Imphal East. He was carrying a single-barrel gun and two phones. The group signed a peace deal with the Centre last year, yet some members keep popping up in extortion and weapons trafficking cases.
Officers also picked up a member of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur in Imphal West. He faces accusations of firing on a home in Pangei to shake down residents for cash. Meanwhile, soldiers in Churachandpur caught two juvenile Kuki National Front members holding 77 live rounds of ammunition.
Patrols in Kangpokpi turned up a deadly find. Soldiers searching Chiru village discovered an improvised explosive device and four homemade mortar shells. Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track these unlawful activities. As the police stated, "investigations are underway in all the cases to ascertain the militants' activities and trace possible links to other unlawful operations."
