Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police conducted a series of targeted operations across the state on June 14 and 15, resulting in the arrest of four suspected insurgents. The raids, aimed at curbing militant activity, led to the apprehension of individuals affiliated with several proscribed organizations and the recovery of various weapons.
On June 15, authorities arrested Thoudam Roshan Meitei, a 21-year-old alleged cadre of the RPF/PLA, at his home in Imphal East. The previous day, police apprehended Moirangthem Naresh Singh, another suspected RPF/PLA operative, at a checkpoint in Bishnupur. Officials confirmed the seizure of a motorcycle from Singh during the arrest.
Security forces also detained Khumukcham Shyamsunder Singh, a 54-year-old member of the UNLF (P), at his Imphal West residence on June 14. During this operation, authorities recovered a 9mm pistol and a magazine. A fourth individual, identified as 35-year-old NRFM cadre Ningthoujam Premkumar Singh, was taken into custody near the Yaripok Lamlai crossing in Imphal East.
Officials have not provided specific details regarding the roles of the detainees beyond their alleged insurgent affiliations. A police statement confirmed that "investigation and further legal proceedings are reported to be underway" as authorities continue to monitor the region.
