Imphal: Security forces arrested a 36-year-old man in Manipur following a series of coordinated anti-insurgency operations conducted over the past 24 hours. The suspect, identified as Md. Eliyash Khan, was apprehended at Friends Colony in Imphal East district. Authorities recovered a 9 mm replica pistol from his possession, which police stated was used to threaten and extort civilians.
In a separate operation near Heirok in the Thoubal district, security personnel uncovered a cache of weaponry and military-grade equipment. The seizure included a .32 pistol with a magazine, two SBBL firearms, 71 rounds of live ammunition, and two tear smoke shells. Officers also found 14 bulletproof plates, a bulletproof jacket, military-style camouflage uniforms, and 12 KCP logo stickers.
Police have handed the suspect and all seized materials over to local stations for further legal action. The operations highlight ongoing efforts to curb criminal intimidation and insurgency across the region.
