Imphal: Manipur Police arrested 44-year-old Siamkhansuan Samte on May 22 after discovering a significant cache of narcotics in his vehicle. Officers stopped his Maruti Ignis at a temporary checkpoint near Suangdoh village, located under the Singngat Police Station in Churachandpur district.

A search of the vehicle yielded 33 soap cases filled with suspected brown sugar and 40,000 WY tablets, which had a combined weight of approximately 3.8 kilograms. Authorities took the suspect, his mobile phone, and the vehicle into custody to facilitate ongoing legal proceedings.

Beyond this arrest, security forces have ramped up operations across Manipur. They are conducting search operations and area domination exercises in vulnerable regions to recover illegal arms. Officials also reported that they are maintaining 114 checkpoints throughout the state to ensure public safety. On the logistics front, security teams are escorting convoys along National Highway 37 to protect the movement of essential goods.
