Manipur Police seize large haul of opium seeds in Tengnoupal

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested a 34-year-old man and seized over 189 kilograms of opium seeds during a raid in the Tengnoupal district on May 23. Officers apprehended Tholung Koshel Lamkang near the Pallel Chandel Lamkhai area along National Highway 102. Police also impounded the A-Star vehicle he was driving at the time of his arrest.

Security forces are maintaining a heightened presence across the region through continued search operations and area domination exercises. To secure essential supply lines, authorities are escorting transport vehicles along National Highway 37. A total of 316 trucks carrying vital commodities passed through sensitive zones under this protection.

Local agencies have also expanded surveillance efforts to monitor traffic and potential criminal activity. Officials have established 114 checkpoints and nakas throughout the hill and valley districts to reinforce safety across the state.

It's crazy to think that this is probably not the only smuggler in town and that there's many more who goes undetected. That's at least for 100 acres. Imagine, 1000 person carrying 200 kilograms of Opium seed each and planting in the mountains of Manipur. That covers over 100,000 acres!!
