Imphal: Manipur Director General of Police Mukesh Singh hit Noney district on July 7 to overhaul local security. He demanded officers get aggressive against extortion rings. His orders are clear. Officers must focus on the "prompt investigation and disposal of pending cases" by boosting the quality of their work.

Singh inspected the Noney District Police Headquarters to size up crime trends and operational readiness. He later pushed deeper into the field. He visited the CRPF camp at Lamdangmei to check on security along the district fringe. The DGP also gathered with commanding officers from the Central Armed Police Forces to align their tactics.

The mission has a major focus on keeping National Highway 37 open. Singh wants tight security for trucks hauling essential goods between Imphal and Jiribam. He rounded out the trip by meeting with civil society leaders. He promised them full police cooperation while asking the public to help keep the peace.
