Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh condemned an arson attack in Kanto Sabal village on Saturday. Police arrested two men for the violence. The suspects include Kammang Lhouvum, the chief of Hengjang village and chairman of the Leimakhong Area Protection Committee. Authorities charged both men with arson and mob violence.

Security forces moved in fast. State police and Central Armed Police Forces now guard the area to stop the fighting. Singh called the violence a deliberate attempt to derail the peace process. He noted, "The incident reflects the presence of elements driven by vested interests that are actively attempting to disrupt efforts aimed at restoring normalcy and stability in Manipur."

The state government is keeping a close eye on the region. Security agencies have orders to keep the peace. Officials say they will not let these attacks happen again.
