Manipur Officials Team Up with NCB to Combat Drug Trade

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with top Narcotics Control Bureau brass on Wednesday to plot a new assault on the state drug trade. The sit-down at the State Secretariat brought in Deputy Director General R. Sudhakar and Additional Director P.K. Mishra to synchronize state and federal gears.

The group wants better intel. They plan to tighten cooperation with international agencies to break apart smuggling rings operating across the border. Enforcement must improve. Officials spent the session auditing how the state uses the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act to pin down and prosecute dealers.

The Chief Minister took to X after the meeting to confirm the state is doubling down on its anti-narcotics push. The mission is clear. The government wants to scrub the state clean of illegal substances through a unified, hard-hitting approach. "The government remains firmly committed to eliminating the drug menace through coordinated and sustained efforts," Khemchand Singh stated.
