Imphal: Manipur Congress Member of Parliament Bimol Akoijam has publicly criticized the state government for its failure to address the murders of six Liangmai (Zeliangrong) Naga men. During a visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, Akoijam questioned the administration's silence and suggested potential complicity in the lack of arrests.

The MP expressed deep concern over the persistent violence that has plagued Manipur's hill regions since May 2023. Addressing the government's handling of the situation, Akoijam stated, "I demand answers on whom the administration was attempting to protect." He confirmed his intention to raise the issue in Parliament to seek justice for the families of the victims.

Akoijam also criticized the decision to extend the Central Government's probe committee deadline by six months, a move initiated at the state's request. As tensions remain high, political responses within the state legislature appear increasingly divided.

Meanwhile, newly elected Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi of the BJP has committed to focusing on the restoration of peace and normalcy. At a felicitation event in Imphal attended by Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabrata and other community leaders, Sharda Devi was honored for her decades of service to the BJP. She thanked the party's central leadership for her unopposed election to the Upper House as she prepares to step into her new role.
