Imphal: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla wants more district-level Olympic Games. He spoke at the closing of the inaugural Bishnupur District Olympic Games in Moirang on Sunday. The event featured 16 different sporting disciplines.

Organizers hope these games help local youth. Athletes need these opportunities to succeed. The Governor said, "District-level competitions are essential for discovering future champions."

Thoubal set the original blueprint for this model. Now the state government wants this structure in every district. Governor Bhalla credited national programs like Khelo India and the National Sports University for building a better sports ecosystem for young people.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also attended the ceremony. He noted that these contests build skills and foster healthy rivalry among participants. The event finished with a band display from the Indian Army, alongside various cultural shows and trophy presentations. Officials including Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel joined the celebration.
