Imphal: The documentary film Battlefield, hailing from Manipur, has secured a nomination in the International Competition section of the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival. Scheduled for June 15 to 21, 2026, the festival will feature the film in the highly competitive feature-length documentary category.
Directed by Borun Thokchom, the film earned this recognition following a successful premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India. The project is produced by Manjoy Lourembam, Dr. Radhesyam Oinam, and Viswamithra Universals. Regarding the nomination, Thokchom stated, "This is a proud moment not only for the film but also for the state and the entire film fraternity of Manipur."
Organized by the National Film Development Corporation under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Mumbai International Film Festival is South Asia's largest event dedicated to non-feature films. This year, the festival saw a record of 1,459 entries from 47 countries, making the selection of Battlefield a notable achievement for Manipuri cinema.
The upcoming 19th edition of the festival will host various industry events, including master classes, panel discussions, and gala screenings. Filmmakers will compete for the Golden and Silver Conch awards, which carry a total prize pool of Rs 55 lakhs.
