Imphal: The Manipur government has successfully distributed Rs 1.36 crore to 6,806 farmers across the state. This payout follows the June 20 release of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a national event in West Bengal.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh observed the event via live telecast and praised the central initiative for providing essential financial security to the agricultural sector. On social media, he stated that the scheme has played a significant role in strengthening the livelihoods and economic security of farmers, whom he described as the backbone of the country's economy. Eligible families receive Rs 6,000 annually through this program.

To maintain eligibility, the Department of Agriculture is requiring all beneficiaries to complete eKYC verification and ensure their land records are current. The state launched a dedicated land record drive on June 15 to assist farmers with these requirements. Beneficiaries can update their information via the official PM-KISAN portal or through local Common Service Centres.

Authorities have established help desks at fertiliser distribution points to assist with documentation, accepting documents like Aadhaar cards and Jamabandi records. For those in hill districts, valid land certificates authenticated by the Sub-Divisional Officer are also permitted. Officials noted that payments remain temporarily paused for cases involving land acquired after February 2019 or duplicate family applications until physical verification is complete.
