Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has condemned a deadly ambush on a goods vehicle along National Highway 202 in the Ukhrul district. The attack, carried out by unknown armed individuals between Leingangching and T.S. Kasom Village, resulted in the death of a truck driver from West Bengal and left a police constable with a knee injury.

Describing the assault as a heinous and cowardly act, the Chief Minister emphasized that targeting transport vehicles undermines the state's efforts to maintain essential supplies. He suggested the violence was likely orchestrated by vested interest groups attempting to destabilize the region and derail government peace initiatives.

The Chief Minister extended his condolences to the family of the deceased driver and wished the injured constable a swift recovery. Authorities have launched search and cordon operations in the surrounding areas to apprehend the perpetrators. Singh reaffirmed that those responsible will face the full force of the law for their role in this violence.
