Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh held a high-level meeting at the New Civil Secretariat on July 3 to audit the Public Works Department. He brought in the Commissioner, the Chief Engineer, and senior staff to account for stalling projects. The clock is ticking.

Khemchand demanded that crews hit their deadlines. He wants better coordination between agencies to clear hurdles and boost road connectivity across the state. Projects must remain on track without skimping on material standards. The CM made his stance clear during the briefing.

He told staff that "strengthening the functioning of the Public Works Department would play a crucial role in improving road connectivity, public infrastructure, and civic amenities across Manipur." He expects these improvements to drive public service efficiency and open doors for local growth.

This review marks the latest move by the state to tighten governance. The government hopes to stop project delays and ensure that citizens get the infrastructure they were promised.
