Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh marked World Sports Journalists Day with a public salute to the trade. He credited reporters with keeping fans tethered to the action. Accurate reporting connects the public to the game.

The Chief Minister took to X on June 2 to highlight the role of the media in chronicling athletic feats. He pushed for continued integrity in the field. "Today, we salute the dedication and professionalism of sports journalists whose accurate reporting, integrity and passion keep us connected to the world of sports while celebrating the achievements of our athletes," Singh said.

Northeast India boasts a strong history of sports journalism. Many professionals from the region have documented events on a global scale. They have pushed sports promotion forward for years.
