Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss critical infrastructure projects. During the session at the minister's residence, Singh advocated for the immediate sanctioning of an elevated highway project. Officials confirmed that the Union Minister responded positively to this request.

The discussion covered several major transport arteries, including the Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur highways. Singh noted that the Manipur Cabinet has authorized land compensation for the Imphal-Jiribam Road in Noney district following a revised survey, and construction is already underway. Regarding the Imphal-Dimapur route, Singh stated that "issues concerning Kangpokpi district had been resolved and that the state Cabinet had approved a special package for the project."

Progress remains mixed on other regional infrastructure. While officials continue to work on these key corridors, the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami highway faces ongoing land-related complications. The state government is actively engaging with local stakeholders to clear these hurdles and move the project forward as soon as possible.
