Manipur Chief Minister Honors Junior Asia Cup Hockey Captain

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh recognized Indian Women’s Junior Hockey Team captain Khaidem Shileima Chanu on September 17. The ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. It followed the team’s win at the Junior Asia Cup 2026 held in Moqi, China.

The squad clinched the title after a tense 1-0 victory against host nation China. Singh praised Chanu for her stellar performance on the global stage. He noted, "bringing laurels to Manipur and the country" remains her greatest achievement.

The Chief Minister offered his support for her upcoming matches. He stated her success serves as a point of pride for the entire state. Singh expects her to keep up the pace in her future career.
