Manipur Chief Minister Backs New Voter Roll Integrity

Imphal: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh promised a fair voter list for 2026. This comes after the Election Commission trimmed the rolls. They cut 158,677 names from the registry. The state now keeps 19.34 million electors on the books.

Khemchand spoke at a party workshop held at the BJP state office. He called the draft publication a major step for the state. "The Final Electoral Roll, scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026, would uphold the highest standards of transparency, integrity and accuracy," Khemchand said.

Top party brass attended the event. Home Minister K. Govindas Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi showed up. Former MP Vinod Sonkar joined other party leaders to review the data. Officials collected over 19.34 lakh forms during the update process. The state government intends to keep elections free and peaceful. They view these revisions as the bedrock of democracy in Manipur.
