Manipur Celebrates 12th International Day of Yoga in Imphal

Imphal: Manipur joined global celebrations for the 12th International Day of Yoga on Sunday. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh led the state-level event held at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium in Imphal.

More than 900 people attended the gathering, including students, security personnel, government officials, and local residents. This year, the program operated under the theme of Yoga for Healthy Ageing. The event emphasized the value of the practice in fostering physical fitness, mental resilience, and emotional balance.

Dignitaries at the event described yoga as a vital Indian tradition that helps citizens lead more fulfilling lives. Governor Bhalla shared his thoughts on the significance of the day through social media, writing, "As we embrace this ancient practice, let us reaffirm our commitment to wellness, mindfulness, and a healthier future for all."

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh also utilized social media to commemorate the occasion, noting his presence alongside the Governor and Home Minister K. Govindas Singh. The Chief Minister confirmed the state government remains dedicated to promoting yoga as a method for building a stronger and healthier society for all Manipuris.
