Manipur BJP Nominates Sarda Devi for Rajya Sabha Election

Imphal: The Bharatiya Janata Party has officially named its Manipur unit president, Sarda Devi, as the party candidate for the state's lone Rajya Sabha seat. The announcement follows the formal notification from the Election Commission, which officially opened the electoral process for the Upper House vacancy.

The election timeline sets June 8 as the final day for candidates to submit their nomination papers. Following a period for scrutiny, those entering the race will have until June 11 to withdraw their applications. The final polling and the subsequent counting of votes are both set to occur on June 18.

Following the announcement, the Manipur BJP unit issued a statement praising Sarda Devi for her leadership and commitment to public service. The party expressed its support for her candidacy, stating, "Wishing her success in the election and a meaningful tenure in serving the people of Manipur and the nation."
