Imphal: Three injured Kuki patients were transferred from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal to the Churachandpur Medical College early Wednesday. The move took place around 12:15 am under heavy security protection after local demonstrators spent two days demanding the patients be removed from the facility.

Protests erupted on the RIMS campus after reports surfaced on June 15 regarding the admission of the individuals. Demonstrators gathered to demand the removal of the patients and sought answers from hospital authorities about their identities and backgrounds. The situation escalated to the point that security forces deployed tear gas to manage the crowds and maintain control.

The state government initially signaled a transfer would occur, but delays led protesters to remain on site throughout June 16. Following negotiations between protest representatives and the RIMS Director, authorities promised a midnight relocation. The agitation persisted until the transfer was completed. According to reports, "The transfer was carried out after the Manipur Government reportedly assured protest representatives that the patients would be moved from RIMS around midnight."
