Imphal: A delegation from the Manipuri Cultural Youth Organisation, based in Sylhet, Bangladesh, met with Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh in Imphal. The group gathered on October 7, 2026, to address the needs of the diaspora. They spoke about socio-economic hurdles and protecting their specific cultural roots. The talk focused on keeping the Meitei tradition strong across international borders.

Speaker Singh backed the group. He pledged to help bridge the gap between his home state and the expatriate population. The Speaker shared his thoughts on a social media platform after the meeting ended. He wrote, "A beautiful exchange of heritage. Had a fruitful conversation with Manipur Youth Cultural Organisation (MYCO) Bangladesh delegation to discuss cultural preservation and diaspora support. Keeping the flame of Meitei tradition alive in Bangladesh."

The visitors extended a formal invitation for the Speaker to travel to Bangladesh. He accepted the offer. Singh promised he would make the trip at the earliest possible opportunity to further connect the two regions.
