Kohima: Longleng district leaders met Tuesday to hash out local projects and gear up for the upcoming census. MLA and DPDB chairman B. Bangtick Phom led the session at the DPDB hall. He wants results. He ordered all department heads to stay at their headquarters to keep services running and projects on schedule.
The board greenlit a list of big-ticket items. They approved the LADP 2026-27 scheme, plans for a new Astro Turf field in Longleng, and a sub-divisional horticulture office in Tamlu. They also moved GPS Namsang C into the EAC office building and cleared the Phom Sports Association for official registration.
Census talk dominated much of the meeting. MLA A. Pongshi Phom pushed for total accuracy, noting that the data dictates where resources go. He told the gathered officials: "Accurate data was vital for effective planning, equitable distribution of resources and future development." He expects staffers to do the job with complete impartiality.
The meeting closed with a department brief from the Social Welfare office. The board remains focused on cleaning up administrative hurdles to keep the district moving forward.
