Lone Tree Consultants Sues Meghalaya Cricket Association Over Unpaid Bills

Shillong: Lone Tree Consultants Pvt. Ltd. served a legal notice to the Meghalaya Cricket Association on July 3. The Guwahati travel firm wants its money. It claims the MCA ignored repeated reminders regarding outstanding invoices for travel, accommodation, and logistics services.

MCA President James PK Sangma and Honorary General Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni received the notice. The firm invoked an arbitration clause under Section 21 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on July 30, 2025. That deal forced the association to buy all travel services from this specific firm, with invoices due within seven days.

The company claims the MCA defaulted on multiple payments despite fulfilling its end of the contract. The total bill includes unpaid interest. The firm now wants a sole arbitrator to settle the dispute. It gave the MCA a deadline to consent to this process. The company warned that if the association refuses to cooperate, it will ask a court to appoint an arbitrator. Despite the legal escalation, the firm noted, "The company stated it remains open to resolving the matter through arbitration as per the terms of the original agreement."
