Lilong Haoreibi College Students Protest Principal's Transfer

Imphal: The Students Union of Lilong Haoreibi College is demanding that authorities cancel the transfer of Principal Prof. Md. A. Sattar Shah. The union warned that they will launch a protest, which may include closing the college, if the order issued on May 13, 2026, remains in effect.

Student leaders credited Prof. Shah with significant improvements to the college's academic and administrative standards. Under his leadership, the institution secured the Integrated Teacher Education Programme, making it the first college in Manipur to receive approval from the National Council for Teacher Education.

The union argued that the transfer is unnecessary, especially since the principal is approaching retirement. They maintained that the move does not reflect the desires of the student body and could damage the academic environment. Representatives from the union pledged to coordinate with local student organizations to ensure their opposition is heard by the state officials involved in the decision.
