Imphal: A massive landslide wiped out a section of National Highway 37 in Manipur on Wednesday. Rocks and mud buried the road near the 87 CRPF Battalion camp in Tamenglong district. Traffic stopped cold. Hundreds of vehicles are now stuck on both sides of the blockage.

The slide caught private cars and heavy trucks alike. Many of these rigs carry essential supplies between Silchar and Imphal. No one got hurt in the collapse. Crews from Ganpati Construction Company are on the scene moving dirt and heavy stone. They need to reopen the path fast.

Officials had guided 392 vehicles through the corridor just before the slope gave way. Security forces remain on the ground to watch over the stranded. Officials issued a clear directive regarding the ongoing recovery efforts. "All possible efforts are being made to clear the obstruction and assist stranded travelers. Restoration operations are in progress," a district official said.

Authorities want people to stay off the road for now. Check for official updates before you leave. Do not travel unless you have to.
