Shillong: A major landslide has severed the Shillong-Dawki Road in Meghalaya, forcing officials to suspend all traffic beyond Laitlyngkot village. The blockage occurred at Chainage 25+200, effectively cutting off the route and halting vehicular movement in the East Khasi Hills district.

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited reported that the damage is extensive enough to require several days of repair work. In response, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills issued an order to keep the road closed to ensure public safety while crews work to clear the site.

The district administration stated that the restrictions will remain in force until further notice. Officials are urging commuters to avoid the area entirely and to monitor official channels for updates on when the highway might reopen.
