Imphal: Hundreds of Kuki-Zo residents marched through the streets of Kangpokpi on Sunday to protest recent accusations leveled against Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen. The demonstrators characterized the corruption allegations, which were brought forward by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee and the Manipur Naga Youth Organisation, as fraudulent and politically motivated.

Protesters gathered at Nute Kailhang and moved along National Highway-2, chanting slogans in support of the Deputy Chief Minister. Participants argued that the groups behind the allegations are acting as mouthpieces for radical elements intended to destabilize the state government. They urged both central and state officials to intervene against what they described as organizations spreading communal division.

Supporters defended the Deputy Chief Minister by pointing to her record as a leader, including her efforts to secure the release of detainees in Ukhrul. Protesters questioned the timing and validity of the claims, noting that the Deputy Chief Minister has maintained a strong reputation as a dedicated representative for tribal communities. They suggested that the move is an attempt to undermine the current BJP leadership in both Manipur and Delhi.
