Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has formally requested that the Kangpokpi Police Station register a criminal case against the administrators of two WhatsApp channels and a Facebook page. The complaint stems from allegations that these platforms circulated a fabricated press release falsely attributed to the organization.

Paojalal Hangshing, the Assistant Secretary of Information and Publicity for KIM, submitted the complaint on June 3. He identified the targeted channels as Behind the Truth and Zomi Info on WhatsApp, along with the Northeast Publish page on Facebook. According to the complaint, the content is defamatory and was shared with the intent to damage the organization's reputation.

Hangshing stated that the organization issued official clarifications to debunk the fake statement, yet the material continues to spread online. He warned that the content poses a risk to public order and could incite communal tensions. The organization provided screenshots and copies of the disputed posts as evidence to support its request for a thorough digital investigation.

The KIM is calling for authorities to secure subscriber data from the platforms to track down the sources behind the misinformation. The organization also urged officials to take immediate action to stop the ongoing circulation of the document to preserve communal harmony.
