Kuki Inpi Manipur Extends Total Shutdown by 48 Hours

Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur has extended the total shutdown across Kuki-Zo areas for an additional 48 hours. This measure takes effect from midnight on May 23. The organization stated the decision serves to protect the rights, dignity, and future of the Kuki-Zo community.

All business establishments, educational institutions, and normal vehicular traffic must remain suspended during this period. The shutdown does not apply to essential services, including medical emergencies, pharmacies, media personnel, and utilities like water and electricity. Humanitarian activities are also permitted to continue.

Janghaolun Haokip, the secretary of information and publicity, issued the announcement from Kangpokpi. The group has called upon the Indian government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to restore peace and address the grievances of the local population during this time of instability.
