Imphal: Kuki Inpi Manipur and local civil society groups in Kangpokpi have extended their total shutdown across all Kuki-Zo inhabited areas. The decision, which took effect at midnight on May 25, 2026, follows twelve days of protests that have yielded no response from government authorities.

The community is demanding a full investigation into the killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders. They are also calling for the unconditional and safe release of Kuki-Zo individuals who remain in detention. Officials from the organization stated that they may increase the intensity of their protests if the government does not address these grievances.

The shutdown includes exemptions for essential services to prevent harm to the public. Medical emergencies, healthcare facilities, media operations, and security movements are permitted to function normally. The organization expressed its gratitude to the public for their continued support in the pursuit of justice and safety for the region.
