Imphal: The Kuki CSO Working Committee has accused armed attackers linked to the NSCN Eastern Flank of launching a coordinated assault on Mongkot Chepu village in the Ukhrul district. The incident occurred on May 21 and triggered intense gunfire between the alleged attackers and local village volunteers that lasted for several hours.

According to the committee, the offensive involved high-grade weaponry and explosives, signaling a deliberate escalation in regional violence. They noted that unauthorized drone activity was observed over the village on the two days preceding the attack. These flights were reportedly traced to the nearby village of Sikibung, suggesting a level of advanced operational planning.

In the wake of the violence, the committee raised alarms regarding the spread of AI-generated images on social media. They claim these fabricated visuals wrongly depict Sikibung as the target of Kuki militants to inflame communal tensions. The organization stated that such narratives are dangerously misleading and warned that they will pursue legal action against those circulating false propaganda.
