Guwahati: Kokadeuta Nati Aru Hati 2 arrived in theaters July 3, 2026, across 74 screens in Assam and Shillong. The sequel attempts to reignite a classic. It fails to match the original charm. Produced by Pride East Entertainments, the project features a script by Bhaskar Hazarika. Expectations were high. They went unmet.
Pranjal Saikia returns as the patriarch Moina. He is a painter now. His grandson Ankur, played by Utpal Das, struggles with drug addiction after returning from America. The plot sidelines female characters, focusing heavily on the male figures. Jatin Bora plays the father, Pallab, who works as a cop in Miami. Tapan Das portrays the household manager, Birinchi.
The script leans into irony. During one tense exchange about personal rights, Moina shuts down his grandson. He tells the boy, “That is why you are in such a situation now.”
Director Biswajeet Bora handles the second half well. The story finds its footing an hour in. It shifts into an investigation after a threat emerges. Adil Hussain appears as a cop, while the elephant Brikudar provides a spiritual highlight. Still, the film relies on predictable tropes. The villain delivers a clumsy monologue to explain his actions. The hype faded quickly after the opening weekend. It remains a hollow return for fans of the original.
