Kohima Police Arrest Three Accused of Extortion

Kohima: Kohima police arrested three men for extortion and factional activity during two separate operations on June 22. Officers nabbed the first suspect near Razhu Point after receiving intel on his movements. Cizoto Veswuh, 47, identified as a self-styled captain for the NNC/FGN, had an information slip and a receipt in his pocket. Police filed charges against him under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Nagaland Security Regulation.

A second operation targeted thugs shaking down local businesses. Business owners had been terrified into silence by ongoing threats, but police launched a suo motu investigation to track the suspects. Investigators hauled in Viketouzo, 46, and John Magh, 39, both linked to the NSCN/GPRN-K group. They face charges for their alleged roles in the racket. Police are still hunting for others involved in the scheme.

Authorities want shop owners to come forward with information regarding any threats. They promised to keep all tips quiet. "All information received will be handled with strict confidentiality," the police PRO said.
