Kohima: Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem ordered departments to coordinate on Eklavya Model Residential School projects in Chiechama and Botsa. The Tuesday meeting at the Kohima Deputy Commissioner’s Office addressed delays for the facilities, which fall under the National Education Society for Tribal Students.
Construction work at Chiechama hit 62.3 percent completion. Officials reviewed plans for a two-kilometre approach road from the highway, plus power and water hookups. The Botsa project lags further behind at 21.47 percent, with staff currently focused on establishing water connectivity.
Building both schools requires tight cooperation between police, the district administration, and the Tribal Affairs Department. Buchem warned that the teams must stay on track. "The deputy commissioner urged all concerned departments to ensure close coordination so that the projects are completed on schedule and students can benefit from the facilities at the earliest."
Work must finish by 2027. Failure is not an option.
