Kohima: The District Congress Committee in Kiphire wants the Public Works Department to fix the crumbling roads in Pungro town. DCC president K. Tsalimong sent a letter to the local executive engineer demanding immediate repairs.

Potholes litter the streets. The monsoon rains turned the town into a mud pit. Deep waterlogging and massive ruts make travel a gamble for every commuter. The situation is particularly dangerous for local school children who walk these routes daily.

The committee claims these failing roads stop emergency vehicles from getting where they need to go. They stated that the department must take steps to restore the roads for "public convenience and safety." The agency needs to act now before someone gets hurt.
