Guwahati: The Karbi Students Association slammed MLA Jitu Goswami this weekend. They hit back hard against his recent public remarks about the Baithalangso region. Goswami reportedly claimed the area sits inside Nagaon district. The group rejects that entirely.
Prosanto Engti, president of the KSA Hamren Regional Committee, spoke at a press conference Saturday. He laid out the facts clearly. Baithalangso belongs to the Hamren region of West Karbi Anglong. It has nothing to do with Nagaon district.
The group called the lawmaker's comments false and misleading. They want the public to ignore the confusion. Engti demanded better accuracy from elected officials on basic administrative lines. He noted the session was held to stop rumors. During the briefing, Engti stated that the statement made by the MLA was "false and misleading."
The association warned residents to be wary of bad information. Local officials stayed quiet. MLA Jitu Goswami offered no response to the accusations by the time this story went to press.
