Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council hit a major milestone on Tuesday. The governing body celebrated 75 years of managing the hill district. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma joined the commemoration, cheering the group for protecting indigenous identity while pushing for local growth.

Sarma took to social media to mark the event. He said, "Warm greetings on the 75th Foundation Day of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. This milestone reflects the rich heritage, resilience and aspirations of the people of Karbi Anglong. May the Council continue to strengthen peace and development across the region and empower all."

Based in Diphu, the council operates under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. It holds real power. It handles land management, education, and local lawmaking. For decades, the organization has balanced socio-economic advancement with the preservation of tribal traditions. Residents and council leaders spent the day reviewing past wins and looking toward future goals.

The district has changed. Recent years brought better roads and more tourism support. Officials remain focused on infrastructure, healthcare, and welfare for everyone in the region.
