Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong region is marking a historic political milestone following the nomination of BJP MLA Dr. Habbe Teron as the NDA candidate for the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly. Local leaders view this selection as a major advancement in the political empowerment of indigenous communities within the state.
Tuliram Ronghang announced the nomination during a joining programme held in Diphu on June 18. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their support of Dr. Teron. According to Ronghang, the decision underscores the government's broader commitment to fostering inclusivity and strengthening tribal leadership in high-ranking constitutional roles.
