Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council turned 75 on Tuesday. Officials kicked off the milestone with flag ceremonies at the Diphu and Hamren secretariats. They paid respects to founders Semson Sing Ingti, Khorsing Terang, and Sarsing Teron at Taralangso. Everyone gathered for an open session led by council chairman Raju Tisso.
Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang used the stage to push his vision for the region. He told the crowd, "Ronghang highlighted the council's achievements and reiterated its commitment to the development of Karbi Anglong."
New administrative blood joined the ranks. Headsing Rongphar and Kadom Terangpi took spots as executive members, while former Howraghat MLA Darsing Ronghang secured a seat as a nominated member. The council also handed out job letters to new primary school teachers and local development committee leaders.
The celebration recognized local talent. Pakhila Lekthepi received a new house, while others took home CEM Lifetime Achievement Awards. The district wrapped the day with a film screening and a tribute show for the late cultural figure Sum Ronghang. Founded in 1951, the council remains a primary force for the Sixth Schedule district.
