Imphal: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has officially extended the tenure of all nominated Municipal Board and Town Committee Chairpersons, as well as Ward Commissioners. This administrative decision grants an additional six months of service, applying retrospectively from May 3, 2026, until November 2, 2026.

This extension was formalized through EC Resolution No. 12, which was adopted during the 26th Executive Committee meeting of the 13th KAAC held on May 14, 2026. According to the official notification released by the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs, the move is rooted in the provisions of Section 6 (1)(a) and 6 (1)(b) of the Mikir Hills District (Constitution of Town Committees) Rules, 1958.

Signed by Joint Secretary Ibon Teron, the directive impacts all incumbent officials currently serving within the Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts. To ensure administrative compliance, copies of the notification have been distributed to Executive Members, District Commissioners, senior police officials, and various other relevant authorities for immediate awareness and necessary action.
