Kangpokpi Residents Rally in Support of Manipur Deputy CM

Imphal: Hundreds of residents took to the streets in Kangpokpi to voice their support for Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen. The demonstration followed recent accusations of fund misappropriation brought against her by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee and the Manipur Naga Youth Organisation.

Marching from Nute Kailhang along National Highway 2, protesters carried placards and chanted slogans defending the deputy chief minister. Participants dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and urged the state government, central authorities, and the BJP leadership to intervene in the matter.

Speakers at the event highlighted Kipgen's ongoing contributions to peace building and governance. They warned that targeting prominent tribal leaders could hinder efforts to restore normalcy during a period of instability. Supporters suggested that any legitimate concerns should be addressed through official departmental investigations rather than public accusations.

The gathering concluded with a plea for communal harmony and a fair inquiry into the claims. Attendees stressed the importance of cooperation between all communities to maintain stability within the state.
