Justice HS Thangkhiew to Lead Meghalaya Consumer Commission Selection Panel

Shillong: The Meghalaya Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department has established a selection committee to appoint members to the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and various district commissions. Justice HS Thangkhiew of the High Court of Meghalaya will lead the panel as its Chairman.

The department issued an official notification confirming the appointment, which was made with the approval of the Governor. This new order supersedes a previous directive issued on February 5, 2021.

Officials stated that the selection process aligns with the "Consumer Protection (Qualification for Appointment, and Members of the State Commission and District Commission) Rules, 2020" established under the Consumer Protection Act of 2019. The committee is now responsible for vetting and selecting candidates to fill positions across the state and district consumer redressal forums.
