Joychandra Konthoujam Urges Manipur to Boost Food Security Through Agriculture

Imphal: Joychandra Konthoujam, chairman of the Justice Committee on the Anglo-Manipuri War, has called for a major shift toward agricultural modernization to secure Manipur’s future. Speaking at a distribution event in Thayong Kom Village, he emphasized that food self-sufficiency serves as the vital foundation for the state’s economic growth.

The training and distribution program, hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Kom Union Manipur, provided local farmers with essential equipment including rice mills and spray pumps. Konthoujam argued that the state must transform its underutilized land into productive zones through consistent effort and entrepreneurship.

He urged the youth, particularly those in hill regions, to embrace modern farming techniques to promote both environmental conservation and job creation. Konthoujam stated, "Sustainable development can only be achieved through consistent effort and dedication."

The event, presided over by Kom Union Manipur President Serto Ahao Kom, saw participation from several agriculture officials. By fostering unity among communities and adopting efficient resource management, Konthoujam believes Manipur can build a prosperous and self-reliant economy.
