Journalist Nava Thakuria Honored with Devarshi Narad Jayanti Award

Imphal: Vishwa Samvad Kendra Assam honored senior journalist Nava Thakuria with the annual Devarshi Narad Jayanti Award during a ceremony held at Sudarshanalaya in Guwahati. The event also celebrated three emerging media professionals, Ranjita Rabha of Pratham Khabar, Lakhyajit Gohain of NK Television, and Mridul Haloi of Dainik Asom, who were recognized for their contributions.

Prakhar Shrivastava, a senior consulting editor and anchor at Delhi Doordarshan Kendra, served as the guest speaker. During his address on the state of modern media, he warned that the dissemination of half-truths presents a more significant obstacle to journalism than blatant lies. He also discussed historical developments during the Partition and shifts in Assam’s demographic landscape.

Upon receiving the honor, Thakuria reflected on the historical significance of the award's namesake. He stated, "Devarshi Narad is a timeless inspiration for journalism," while emphasizing the necessity of maintaining traditional values and seeking truth through constructive engagement. The ceremony concluded with the official release of the souvenir Veena Bani and a presentation of Saraswati Vandana.
