Journalist Alleges Assault by Landlord in Assam

Guwahati: Tensions boiled over at a rental home in the Raha Police Station area. Journalist Deep Shikha Deka accused her landlord and his family of assault and intimidation while her parents tried to move out. The dispute started over a damaged helmet. It turned ugly fast.

Deka claims the landlord hurled insults at her and mocked her career. Then the situation turned physical. Deka alleged that the landlord's son, Priyam Pratim Das, attacked her during the move. She stated, "He pulled her clothes, slapped her and struck her on the chest." The assailant also allegedly grabbed her work microphone and tried to break it.

Her father stepped in to help. The attackers hit him too. Deka caught the entire confrontation on her mobile phone. She handed that footage over to the police as evidence. The Raha Police Department started an investigation into the matter. The accused have not provided a statement yet.
