Imphal: Jiribam observed World Bicycle Day on Wednesday with a community rally aimed at promoting sustainable and eco-friendly transportation. The event was coordinated by the NSS Unit and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Jiri College alongside MY Bharat Jiribam.

Participants cycled from Irabot Point to the Railway Crossing at Babupara. T. Tiken Singh, the Officer-in-Charge of the Jiribam Police Station, officially flagged off the rally to start the proceedings.

O. Radheshyam, the NSS Programme Officer at Jiri College, emphasized the benefits of cycling during the event. He described the bicycle as an affordable and clean mode of travel that helps lower pollution levels and combat climate change. By choosing bikes for short trips, residents can save fuel, enhance their personal health, and foster a cleaner environment for the district.
