Imphal: The Jiribam District Administration, in partnership with local police, the District Social Welfare Office, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), held a bike rally today to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event took place as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah campaign under the theme Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Viksit Bharat ki Pehchaan.
Deputy Commissioner Arvind Hanglem and 48 Battalion CRPF Commandant Shiv Ramakrishna flagged off the procession at Jiribam Bazar. The rally traveled through the area before finishing at the DC Office Complex, serving as a public call for collective action against substance abuse.
Speaking at the event, Shiv Ramakrishna addressed the persistent threat narcotics pose to the nation, particularly in the northeastern region. He stated, "Drug abuse remains one of the most serious challenges confronting both the country and its younger generation."
The initiative seeks to strengthen the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by fostering community engagement and awareness. Officials emphasized that involving the public is a critical step in building a safer society and addressing the complex issues of illegal cultivation and cross-border trafficking that affect the region.
